TV
Here's a rough schedule of the prime time shows that I watch for the 2005-2006 TV season. I do my best to watch these shows every week. You can also see what I watched last season and the season before that. The shows with stars by their names are those that are good enough to tape if I miss them. No, I don't have Tivo. (All times are Pacific)
Sunday
- Nothing. What did you expect, Desparate Housewives?
Monday
- CSI: Miami 10:00 PM, CBS. Or as I like to call it, the funniest show on TV. The unintentional comedy of David Caruso's Horatio Caine is off the charts.
Tuesday
- Nothing. This is bowling night now, so it's OK.
Wednesday
- Lost* 9:00 PM, ABC. Great show. Enthralling. I'm surprised people still watch since you've got to pay attention to keep track of what's going on. But, I'm glad they do.
- Law and Order* 10:00 PM, NBC. The original. Good stories, all the characters aren't falling in love with each other. I just like this show. Sure, sometimes they go a little overboard with "ripped from the headlines" and the "the Law and Order twist," but it's good. Even without Lenny, I like this show a lot.
Thursday
- Finally, there's good comedy back on Thursday nights on NBC (see the comments from the last two years).
- My Name is Earl* 9:00 PM, NBC. I'm not sure why I still watch this show. It's got some kind of bizarre hold on me. I mean, sometimes it's really funny, but most of the time, I just kind of watch. But I keep watching.
- The Office* 9:30 PM, NBC. Great show. I'm a big fan of the British version and this one probably isn't as good, but it's still funny, which is all I can really ask for right now. I mean, there isn't much in the way of good comedy on TV these days.
- Beauty and Geek* 9:00 PM, WB. "The social experiment from Ashton Kutcher." The cracks me up every time. Like he's some kind of a scientist, walking around in a lab coat and writing in a notebook. Just a phenomenal show.
- E.R. 10:00 PM, NBC. I don't really like this show. I mainly watch because it's usually on while I'm dinner.
Friday
- Monk* 10:00 PM, USA. Great show. The plots are interesting. I like a good mystery. I do miss Sharona being on the show, but it's still good.
Saturday
Shows I would watch if they were in season or weren't cancelled (2004/2005 season only)
- MI-5* A&E. Not sure when (or if) this show coming back. It seems to have disappeared from A&E's website. I think new episodes are airing in England right now. Besides, in the 10 episodes last season (series 3), we lost three of the main characters, including Zoe, who will be missed. So, we'll see how good the show is when it comes back. Also, if you're watching the in the U.S., like I am, you can read a summary of the parts that are edited out so that we can see commercials by going to http://www.the-grid.tv/.
