Sports
I love watching sports. My two favorite are college football and hockey. I also like baseball. I also have a lot of fun playing fantasy sports. There, you build a team of real players and how they do in real life determines how your team does. I was champion of the NFL fantasy league in the 2000 season (thank you Marshall Faulk). However, I haven't been able to win any league in any sport since, though I came tantalyzingly close in the 2005/2006 hockey season. I lost by 7.1 points, when over 2100 were scored for the season. At least I was back on the podium. For my fantasy sports needs, I usually use yahoo.
College Football
Crushing defeat for my USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl. That was hard to take. I was there, in row G of section 27. I agree with the call to go for it on fourth and 2. Maybe there could have been a better play to call, but going for it was certainly right. It just doesn't feel like that season should have ended with a loss after the insane amount of hype and an average home game attendance of over 90000. Oh well. We'll see what happens next year.
I'm a big USC fan, but I'm also a fan of college football in general. Nothing says "fall Saturday" like college football. I support the bowl system but not necessarily the BCS. I wish things would go back to the way they were: 8 bowl games on New Year's Day and that's it. It was fun. And a word to all the people who say that USC only won one national championship because LSU won the 2003 BCS national championship: there is no such thing as a BCS national championship! The winner of the BCS title game is guaranteed to be named national champion by the Coaches' Poll (and get their crystal football). That's it!
Hockey
Well, my beloved L.A. Kings started out doing surprisingly well. Now, injuries and hampering them again. That feels a lot like last season.
Baseball
I am a Dodgers fan. Things have been rough on this front, too, especially since I wasn't even a Dodgers fan back when they won in 1988. I've been to more Dodger games than any other sporting event, even though baseball is not my favorite sport.
When I first made this page, I included the statement "Paul LoDuca is the greatest baseball player alive. I have been at games where he's gone 6-6, where he's hit a walkoff homer in the tenth inning, and where he's hit an inside-the-park homer. His bobblehead doll is displayed on my desk." Well, last July, the Dodgers inexplicably traded the greatest baseball player alive. Worse for me, it was right after I bought a Paul LoDuca jersey. Mind you, this trade happened while the Dodgers were on a tear and in first place in their division. Now Green (the Hebrew Hammer!) is gone, too, dismantling the winning team even further. I think their goal is to get rid of every player that the fans actually like. Decisions like these lead to sites like this.
