A Rainy Evening
( one cozy evening in the malibu hills on a rare southern
californian rainy day... )
raindrop running down a window pane
rainbows in puddles from oil stain
rivulets streaming along the shingle
and swirling in the pipes with a jingle
leaves dancing to the complex rhythm
a melodic tune which I cannot fathom
one drop suspended on the pink petal
among many glistening in the myrtle
trees shivering in the westerly wind
a cloud from the lightning outlined
a swirling mist in the hills yonder
makes you stop and steal a gander
thunder rumbling down the spine
moist earth smelling like wine
oh for a wet rainy day I yearn
while logs in the hearth burn
